Frequently Asked Questions

What does coaching really do?

In a coaching partnership, we get to navigate the muddy, murky waters of self perception, mindset, beliefs, and innate stories. We do this because you have a desire to be somewhere different than where you currently are and to get there, a coach will compassionately hold up the mirror to your blindspots.

Not to be confused with therapy, which I define as the work that goes into the past, asking questions about how you got to where you are, what happened, with whom as well as processing trauma and emotions. Delving into any of this territory, particularly trauma, is for work with a clinician not a coach.

A coaching partnership is forward moving - asking questions that bring out more about who you want to become and the steps needed to get to that place. Emotions, trauma, memories will certainly come up and it's the coach's role to keep your relationship ethically aligned and moving forward.

Therapy and coaching tend to be excellent when partnered.

Where do you meet for in person Colorado sessions?

We can meet at: Sakala, Harmonist Sanctuary, a public library private room, or a walk-n-talk at a local park.

I'm also happy to travel to clients.

What's the difference between in person and virtual coaching?

In-person allows for deeper somatic and hands-on work within the breathwork container. With 1:1 coaching, it allows us to be real and tangible!

Virtual is equally effective for coaching and can accommodate breathwork as well. It comes down to your preference and what your nervous system needs.

Can we discuss my medication?

Unfortunately, no.

I'm a coach, not a clinician. I can't ethically provide medical advice, recommend medications, diagnose conditions, or substitute for psychiatric care.

What I Can Do:

  • Support you in navigating the process of seeking assessment or diagnosis

  • Help you prepare questions for your doctor or psychiatrist

  • Work with you on non-clinical strategies for executive function and nervous system regulation

  • Collaborate alongside your medical treatment (coaching complements clinical care, it doesn't replace it)

  • Discuss how medication changes might be affecting your coaching goals, without advising on the medication itself

  • Connect you with resources for finding qualified medical professionals

Coaching complements clinical care, it doesn't replace it.

Will this help with my corporate job?

We can certainly work on navigating corporate environments with adhd, including accommodation strategies, disclosure decisions, and sustainable work patterns. I can't change your company's culture, but I can support you in navigating it more effectively.

I highly recommend conferring with your Human Resources/People Team in order to see whether or not you qualify for something like a professional development stipend or requesting whether adhd coaching can be an accommodation. Often these options can often be used to partially/cover coaching.

How can I advocate for accommodations?

Wherever you're based, take a gander at this US based accommodation site: AskJan

Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, Victorious Coaching is not covered by American insurance. You may be able to confer with your HSA to gauge whether wellness coaching can be covered. I can provide documentation for HSA/FSA reimbursement.

Additionally, for my UK clients, they do tend to take advantage of the Access to Work Grant.

I'm worried about confidentiality...

Everything we discuss is completely confidential, as in our discussions are not shared externally with anyone. I don't report to your employer, and I don't share any information about our work together.

Additionally, know that coaches are not protected like lawyers or therapists. Whether it seems like you may harm yourself or another or if I’m ever subpoenaed, I would have to break confidentiality.

In order to not take notes during sessions, I do transcribe meetings and keep notes in my records using digital technology. I’m happy to discontinue the transcription process should you be uncomfortable with it at any time. If you want to transcribe or record our sessions for your own notes, please just let me know!

What's the time commitment?

I respect your autonomy and as such, I give only suggestions for how often we meet. The packs are best as biweekly at minimum.

You'll note that the programs listed here are counted as number of sessions rather than timed.

I always suggest to go with the cadence that feels just a touch uncomfortable.

Do I need to be employed?

Absolutely not.

As it relates to the UK grant, Access to Work, that is specifically for employed people, but we can discuss other payment options including payment plans.

What if I'm undiagnosed or not neurodivergent?

You don't need a diagnosis to work with me nor do you need to be neurodivergent. I simply work most with these populations.

If you're struggling with executive function, burnout, a fork in the road, or nervous system dysregulation, that's enough.

Do you understand my culture?

I can't claim to understand every cultural nuance, but I've worked extensively across cultures and I'm committed to understanding your specific context. If I don't get something, I'll ask rather than assume.

My family doesn't understand coaching ...

Fortunately, you don't need their permission to get support and it's VERY common. You're allowed to invest in yourself even if they don't understand it. Many of my clients navigate this, we can talk about it.

I'm not interested in Western individualism that ignores the reality of collectivist cultures and tight family structures. We work on sustainable ways to navigate your actual relationships.

As a note, I work with clients 18 years and older.

What's breathwork all about?

It’s a transformative journey based off the modality of holotropic breathwork, a nervous system tool designed to support you in unlocking your depths, reclaiming old stories & beliefs, and finding emotional release. Virtual breathwork + intuitive healing sessions are a sacred space where you can untangle stuck energy, process emotions, and begin to liberate yourself from past trauma that may have taken root within your body.

What time zones do you work in?

Since I am based in Denver, CO USA which is Mountain time [MST], most of my clients are based in the timezones that sit from North America to Central Europe & Africa. This doesn't mean I only work with people in these locations around the world, but this range tends to be the most comfortable for people.

This typically is: UTC -9 to UTC +1.
